It’s hard to believe today but only a hundred years ago nobody would even think of going on a seaside and sunny vacation in Sochi. "Fiery Water" – the healing and refreshing hydrogen sulfide springs of Matsesta - that's what has given a rise to today's exciting, popular and diverse Sochi. Once upon a time, thousands of years ago, a beautiful girl named Matsesta descended into a mountain cave here to get the healing water from the mountain spirits at the expense of her own life. Here, the Roman warriors used to put their wounded hands in the spring and write letters back home about the magical water, which made their skin turn red and their bodies feel vigorous. The luxury place, reopened and admired by the party nomenclature of Stalin's time and by Stalin himself, became a nature reserve, where the chosen ones used to regenerate energy and health. The leader's dacha still remain here and the sunny atmosphere of Soviet resort films of the 1930s is also well preserved, the glory of Stalinist Empire style woven into the mountains dressed in trees with the blue of the sea water. His secrets has been left here as well - in the underground tunnels and passages.
